A drawing from a child

In my 4-year old class at GSES, I noticed that the kids who sat at the art table would chat, laugh and share stories with their eyes focused on their artwork. Many times a child would give me their drawing and say "this is for you Ms KP!"  I still respond by giving them a big thank you hug. I have been lucky enough to receive many of these pictures from kids through the years. The specialness of the small gift never lessens. I’m so flattered when a child comes to class with a picture that he or she has made at home. It feels like they are sharing a little nugget of their joy with me.

I even loved the slightly crumpled rainbow drawing from this one little poofy- dressed/big-bowed girl. She whispered back towards the lunch line ..... "I didn't want it anyway!" Her trouble-maker buddies satisfied she wasn’t actually trying to make-nice with the Sub. This made me laugh so hard and still does. So thank you for the memory, little girl!

If you have ever been the soul recipient of a heart felt crayon sketch, not just the hands of a human trash can, I’m sure you can relate.

A piece of art will always be a way to connect with each other and can give someone a beautiful memory.
